Taxes and bookkeeping don't have to be scary
Heard handles the books and taxes for 5,000+ therapists, all year. Join by December 31 and we'll catch up your 2026 books and file your 2026 return on time.
The people behind your taxes this year
Heard pairs a platform built for therapists with people who know how a practice earns and spends. The platform handles the busywork, and our team makes sure it's right, all year. Join by the deadline and the same people get your 2026 return filed on time. Here's who does what.
A few things from you, then we handle the rest
Connect your bank accounts, tell us a little about yourself and your practice, complete your tax questionnaires, and answer the occasional question when something needs clarity.
Catches up your 2026 books, then keeps them current every month
The Heard platform sorts your transactions as they come in. Your bookkeeping team reviews everything for accuracy, so SimplePractice and insurance payouts land as therapy income, and home office, supervision and CE costs land in the right category of deductions.
Answers your questions all year and calculates your quarterly estimate
Your accurate January 15 payment is worked out from current books. Have a question about your practice financials? Anything from asking for clairifation on a deduction to wondering about an S corp ahead of the new year, you message our expert team in platform and get a response within 24 business hours.
Prepares your 2026 return and walks you through it
Complete your tax questionnaire in the new year and you’ll get a relationship manager who keeps your return on track. Once your books close, your tax expert prepares your return and files in every state you’re licensed in, and only after you approve it. Annual plans also include a tax advisory consult.
Everything you get when you join by December 31
Heard handles your books, taxes and questions all year. Join by the deadline and this package adds everything you need to file your 2026 return on time, on Essential or Premium. How much of each you get depends on how you pay and when you join.
How we got to this number: catch up bookkeeping $99 for each month of 2026 books we bring current (10 months if you join in November, 11 in December); 2026 tax return $450 for your personal return (1040), plus $750 for the business return (1120-S) for S corps; state filing $99 per state (one state counted); payroll add-on $49 a month for the free months shown, S corps and group practices only; tax advisory call $150. Your exact value depends on how your practice files, how many states you file in, how you pay and when you join. Plan prices are on our pricing page.
Know your number well before April
Most therapists find out what they owe in April, when there's no time left to plan for it. Joining now removes the surprise.

What you'd get anywhere else
A local CPA, tax software and AI tools can each help with part of tax season. Here's what your package covers that they usually don't.
What therapists say about Heard
Questions therapists ask us
Still unsure? A consult is the fastest way to get an answer for your practice.
Book a free consultI'm behind on more than one year. Can you still help?
We only catch up your 2026 books, since that’s the year you need to file. On your consult, we’ll walk through what catching up looks like for you.
I already have a CPA. Why would I switch?
Most CPAs see you once a year. With Heard, you get a team of experts you can message anytime, and that’s included in the cost. Your books stay current all year, your quarterly estimates are calculated for you, and every state filing is included. Your tax expert works with therapists every day, so they already understand the details of running a private practice.
What happens if I sign up after December 31?
Yes, you can still join. The tax package is worth less after this point, and S corps and group practices have an earlier sign-up deadline than sole proprietors. If you sign up after December 31, we can’t guarantee your return will be done by the filing deadline, because catching up your books takes time. If it isn’t ready, we’ll file an extension for you so you stay covered.
I'm on a free trial. Does that count?
Yes. If you start your trial before December 31, you keep the full tax package when you become a member.
I file in more than one state.
Every state your practice files in is included, with no per-state fees.
I just became an S corp. What's different?
Your package includes both your business return (1120-S) and your personal return. On an annual plan, your payroll add-on is covered for up to 12 months. Heard also keeps your S corp compliant all year. That includes setting up an accountable plan so you can reimburse yourself for business expenses tax-free, and calculating a reasonable salary to pay yourself.
What happens after my return is filed?
We keep going. Your books stay current every month, your quarterly estimates are calculated for you and you can message the team any time. Next tax season starts from a much better place.
