Introducing Heard Lite: bookkeeping and quarterly taxes starting at $129/month. | See the plan
Use this cheatsheet to maximize your deductions and save money on taxes for your therapy practice.
Bookkeeping and quarterly taxes, handled year-round by a team that knows private practice. Starting at $129/month.
Say goodbye to wrestling with quarterly estimates and a shoebox of receipts. Start with Heard now and walk into next tax season with everything already in order.
Income is climbing as your caseload fills. Without a system, money moves in and out of one account and the numbers blur. Heard separates the practice from the person.
Only 41% of self-employed therapists paid all four quarterly estimates in 2025. Avoiding these payments, or paying the wrong amount, can come with penalties — and a surprise tax bill can erase months of savings. Heard calculates exactly what to set aside, every quarter.
The work you do this year compounds. Clean books from January make April calm. The deductions you track now show up as money in your pocket when you file.
When you're just getting started, you may want to do-it-yourself or avoid thinking about taxes until April 15. Heard Lite lets you get your books in order and stay on top of quarterly estimates. When it's time to file next year, upgrade to Essential and we'll file with months of clean books behind you.
Heard connects to your bank and categorizes every transaction for you. No spreadsheets or second-guessing whether that coffee was a write-off.
Heard calculates your quarterly federal and state estimates from your real numbers, then reminds you a week before each deadline. No surprise April bills and no trying to figure it out the night before it's due.
Message your team about your QTE calculation or call in for a quick question between sessions. Get support from people who know therapist taxes.
When you're ready to think about an S-Corp, Heard walks you through the math. When you want to know how the practice is actually doing, the reports are already there. When tax time comes, every deduction has been tracked along the way.
Heard Lite is the most accessible way to start with Heard, built for therapists earlier in practice. Heard Essential includes annual tax filing for established therapists, and the annual Essential plan brings the complete Heard experience at a rate close to Lite's monthly price.
If we're not a fit, we'll tell you. The free consult exists so we can be honest about whether Heard Lite makes sense for your practice, before either of us commits.
Heard Lite is for solo sole proprietors getting started. Already established and want annual tax filing locked in? See Heard Essential. S-Corps and group practices use our Premium plan.
We have three plans: Lite, Essential, and Premium.
Lite is our lighter plan, built for solo therapists running a sole proprietorship or single-member LLC who want bookkeeping and quarterly tax estimates in place outside of tax season. Tax filing isn't included.
Essential is our full plan for solo therapists. It covers everything in Lite plus annual tax filing handled by us.
Premium is built for therapists with more complex setups — group practices and S corps. It covers the additional bookkeeping, payroll, and compliance work that comes with those structures.
The path depends on which direction you're going. Upgrading is something you can do whenever you're ready. Downgrading depends on your current plan, your billing cycle, and your tax setup with us.
You can move to Essential anytime from your Stripe billing portal. Once the upgrade goes through, your Essential features turn on right away. If you'd like a direct link or some help finding the portal, reach out to support and we'll get you there.
If you've transitioned to an S corp or added clinicians or associates, you are ready to upgrade to our premium plan. You can do this through your Stripe billing portal and this way we can make sure your books, payroll, and tax setup are connected the way they need to be.
It depends on two things: which Essential plan you're on, and whether you've ever used Heard to file annual taxes.
If you're on Essential Monthly and haven't yet filed annual taxes with us — for example, you opted out for the year, or you signed up after the 3/26 tax deadline — you're eligible to downgrade. Reach out to support and we'll make the change.
If you're on Essential Annual or Essential Annual Paid Monthly, the switch has to wait until your contract renews. At renewal, as long as you've opted out of annual taxes or have never used Heard to file, we can move you to Lite.
If you've already filed annual taxes with us, Lite isn't a plan we can move you to. Lite is built as a starter plan for therapists who haven't yet filed with Heard — once you've filed with us, you've passed the point Lite was designed for, and Essential becomes your plan from there.
Premium is built for the more complex side of practice — groups and S-corps — and is the right plan as long as that's how you're structured. If your practice has simplified, like your group has dissolved or you've converted back to a sole prop, reach out to support and we'll figure out which plan fits your new setup.
Lite doesn't include annual tax filing, so when filing season comes around you have a few options.
You can upgrade to Essential by December 31 to be on track for an on-time return. You can upgrade to Essential by late March to file an extension. You can stay on Lite and pay a one-time $750 fee to have us handle your filing. Or you can stay on Lite and file outside of Heard.
We'll send reminders well ahead of each deadline so you have time to figure out what makes sense for your practice. And if it would help to talk through which path is right for you, we're here for that.
Lite is built for solo therapists running a sole prop or single-member LLC, where the bookkeeping and tax work is more contained. Group practices and S-corps have more moving pieces — payroll, more involved returns, the compliance work that comes with the structure — and Heard Premium is the plan built for that.
Book a 30-minute consult with our team. We'll look at your practice and tell you honestly whether Heard Lite is the right place to start. No pressure. No obligation. Just clarity.
